So I must stay for a long time, Until I have grown from the rock, And the stream is running through me, And I cannot tell myself from on tall tree.

ANNE DELLENBAUGH
anne@herwildsong.com
Anne began guiding wilderness trips in 1983. In 1990 she founded HER WILD SONG in the belief that women's spiritual lives are vitally important and that nourishing our spirits with wind and trees and river and sea is restorative not only to ourselves, but to others around us and even to the Earth herself. Inspired first by the teachings of feminist philosopher Mary Daly and Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh, from the beginning Anne has combined the insights, principles and practices of feminism and Buddhism with her work as a wilderness guide and teacher. To this mix, she now adds Tantric Yoga, her current passion, which she studies with Paul Muller-Ortega.

Anne is a registered Maine Guide, a graduate of the National Outdoor Leadership School and of the Outdoor Leadership Program at Greenfield (MA) Community College. She holds certifications in canoe and yoga instruction and Wilderness First Responder. She received a BA from Smith College and a Masters in Theological Studies from Harvard Divinity School. She created and named the Ordered Chaos of the Wild and Original Lotus, a contemplative lay community, in 1997. Anne is an ordained member of the Order of Interbeing, and a former Zen priest. …the way of the river is sacred, and this grove of trees is sacred, and we ourselves, we tell you, are sacred.

SHARON SANDSTRUM
Sharon began cooking at the age of 5, buttering toast in her granddad ’s restaurant with a paint brush. The love of the kitchen and cooking never stopped and were further nurtured by her mother and grandmother. Each summer in her teens Sharon ran the outdoor kitchen of a girl’s wilderness camp in NH where cooking was done on an open fire. She has worked in the kitchens of the Common Ground Fair, the Michigan Women’s Musical festival and Greenfire Retreat Center for women. She teaches classes at Rising Tide Market and provides private and small group cooking classes upon request.

In 2002 her twenty-year career in public social services came to a screeching halt after being diagnosed with the final and terminal stages of thyroid cancer. Sharon turned to food as a major healing force. Today she lives to feed and nourish others.

Sharon began cooking for Her Wild Song in 2006. She truly believes that what, how and with whom we eat deeply affects not only our bodies but our spirits as well. Sharon feels that our kitchens, wherever they may be, are blessed by the presence of our ancestors when we cook and eat. Sharon’s meals nourish and support us on many levels as we retreat together in the wild.

There is no defense against an open mind and a supple body in dialogue with wildness.
